About me

Hi my name is John “Jack” Mckechnie and here is some information about me. I am currently on the Med. Biology track at UNE. My interests are very adventure driven. I love to surf, which usually involves driving up and down the coast chasing swell. I’m excited for the opportunity to spend a semester in Morocco so that I can get out in the water on the other side of the Atlantic. Surfing for me is about the constant search for the perfect wave. Which I might never find, but the journey is definatly worth while.

My relationship with writing has been mostly from school, writing papers and reports. Outside of school my only writing experience has been my parents making me to write journals on trips we went on and out of the country. These slowly have evolved into videos that my younger sister puts together. These are usually short videos but are great reminders of fun times that might have been forgotten if we hadn’t recorded them through words or video.

My philosophy on learning is that anyone can do it as long as they put the time and effort in. This has become very clear to me after my first and second semesters at school. My first semester I lacked motivation which brought down my grades significantly. However I started to keep notes of everything I had due, along with calendars to make sure I have a good idea of when everything is due. I also make sure that I set aside plenty of time for my work. This effort has boosted my grades significantly. So this just goes to show. If you really want to do something, do it. Nobody is holding you back.

    Jack,
I know that I’ve said this to you before, but I think that it’s so cool that you were encouraged to reflect on your adventures as a kid. That is such a valuable experience. Your blog looks like it’s off to a great start. I would like it if you could please post an About Me PAGE as opposed to an About Me Post. This link can help you understand the difference: http://uneportfolio.org/help/posts-vs-pages/. All you will need to do is copy and paste this text into a new page. 4/5
